As Europe’s economy travels the difficult path to recovery, we believe that it is Europe’s diverse communities, working together, that provide innovative, creative and sustainable solutions to the economic challenges we currently face. This landmark European forum will not only address pivotal pan-European issues such as youth unemployment and social mobility; it will also look to neighbouring regions, not simply as markets but as partners to create a viable future for the next generation.

CEDAR, a European network of highly successful diaspora professionals, will be at the forefront of efforts to build bridges between Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa. After the revolutionary turmoil that has spurred parts of Europe’s neighbourhood into democratic reform during the Arab Spring, it is now time to look at how our regions can work together through trade, through innovation and through economic growth and success.

The forum will unveil the C100 list of the top 100 business leaders of diverse Europe and minority heritage, a statement to Europe and the world on the vast contribution which people of diaspora and minority heritage are making to society and the economy. It will also see the launch of diversity Awards, celebrating the positive contribution made by European Diaspora Leaders to European societies.

CEDAR celebrates both diversity and success; inspiring this success in the next generation is integral part of CEDAR’s activities. By bringing this unique group of individuals together, the Leadership Forum will act as an inspiration to young people of diverse background in Europe to become the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

CEDAR has attracted the attention and eager support of figures from beyond the Diaspora community, who will continue to play a key role in CEDAR’s activity as founding members of the network’s Advisory Board: Farah Pandith – Special Representative to Muslim Communities for the United States Department of State, Gwyneth Williams – Director of English Networks & News for the BBC World Service, Louis Schweitzer – Chairman of Le Monde and Renault, Peter Kellner – President, YouGov and Cherie Blair QC.

If you are interested in serving as a panelist or moderator, please contact Ahmed Larouz (chair@thecedarnetwork.com).

THE VENUE

The Municipal Theater, in Dutch Stadsschouwburg, dominates the Western side of the Leidseplein (Leidse Square). Entering the square the conspicuous neo-renaissance architecture of the Municipal Theater can’t be missed. Even more so because of the street musicians that take advantage of the great acoustics of the arcade in front of the building. The Municipal Theater is the home of the theater group Toneelgroep Amsterdam, one of the most influential theater companies in the Netherlands.

TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION

Following the new policy for The Cedar Leadership Forum events, all participants are responsible for their own round-trip travel to the conference site, including flights and ground transportation, in addition to their accommodations for the conference.
